A visual interpretation
of García Márquez.
Del amor y otros demonios is a visual interpretation of Gabriel García Márquez's novel, created in Medellín, Colombia. Inspired by the magical realism of the original work, the project explores the intersections of Latin American colonial history, Catholic symbolism, and African Yoruba traditions through a surreal, painterly visual language.
Carefully staged compositions tell the story of Sierva María, a young girl caught between love, superstition, and systems of power. Rich color palettes, emotional intimacy, and expressive imagery invite viewers into a world where myth and reality coexist.
Created to celebrate the life and literary legacy of Gabriel García Márquez, this short film was produced in the Department of Antioquia, Colombia. The project combines visual storytelling with artistic interpretation, translating the novel's atmosphere into a cinematic experience.
The complete costume and makeup for Sierva María were entirely designed and made by Dots & Grain Studio.

Set against the energy and atmosphere of Cartagena, the series celebrates the connection between costume, body, and performance, where fashion becomes an extension of rhythm and heritage. Each image captures the intensity, color, and dynamism of Colombian carnival traditions through a contemporary visual lens.
